There are two major waves in the process of political democratization in developing countries. Once began in the early post-war period, and the other began in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with much progress now being made and still making progress. The ups and downs of the wave of democratization are influenced by many economic factors. Starting with the most common economic factor of the expansion of commodity-currency relations, this paper explores the relationship between the economic development and the democratization of politics in developing countries. In the context of the implementation of democracy within a country, it is clear that the city-state democracy of ancient Greece should be traced back to. It is noteworthy that, due to the special natural conditions and other reasons, although the Greek cities are underdeveloped productivity, but commodity exchange, commodity economy has a greater impact. In Western Europe, the forces and ideas of democracy also originated in the city as a commodity exchange center. It can be seen that the commodity economy is of great significance to the formation of democratic politics.
