AIM:To evaluate the diagnostic angiography andtherapy for acute massive hemorrhage in gastrointestinaltract.METHODS:Twenty-five cases of acute hemorrhagein gastrointestinal tract admitted between April 2002and September 2004 were reviewed and analyzed byangiography and embolotherapy.RESULTS:Fifteen patients were men and ten patientswere women.The Seldinger technique and method ofcoaxial duct were used to get access to the bleedingregion.PVA particles,gelfoam,and coils were used forembolism.All bleeding sites could be confirmed andwere successfully embolized.Hemostasis was achievedin all the patients without bleeding again.The cure ratewas 100%.CONCLUSION:Interventional therapy can not onlyascertain the bleeding site,but also stop the bleedingThe method is simple and the effect is certain.
