教育理念的不断更新，使得各个类型的教育理论层出不穷，针对当今社会的人才发展，其所有创新理念的提出都意在提升人才能力，全面培养。也就是说，通过教育，提高学生各个方面的素质及潜力的发展。其中，通识教育亦是如此，指教师在教授专业知识的同时，将对于教材内容的注意力转向于学生，使其发挥自身的创造力及想象力，鼓励学生进行实践学习，以此来培养具有综合素质的人才。
