2001年11月中旬,一条消息惊爆京城:修改后的《婚姻法》实施后,警方介入调查的第一起重婚案已由西城分局立案。一时间,此案成了媒体追踪的热点,一说案件主角王兵是置即将失明的妻子和失学的儿子于不顾,另寻新欢的“陈世美”,将一则新版《秦香莲告状》写得活灵活现;一说王兵婚后发现妻子有严重眼疾后,大呼上当,想离婚又离不掉,迫不得已才去投奔爱情。公说公有理、婆说婆有理。为查明事实真相,警方做了深入的调查取证工作。 2002年初,笔者来到看守所,对王兵进行采访时,他流着泪仰天长叹:“她这样做,结果只能是两败俱伤呀!”王兵说的她,是带着儿子从老家河南来京城,在法院和公安局控告他的妻子余长凤。就让王兵告诉我们,他的家庭悲剧背后,隐藏着什么。
