“顿悟”在乔伊斯早期的小说创作中占据重要的位置。在短篇小说《死者》中,伽布里欧在经历了一系列的心理危机后,忽然间认识到了自己的生存境遇,获得了对世俗人生的大彻大悟。小说中诸多要素对伽布里欧最后的“顿悟”都起到了不同程度的推动作用。本文试从人物特质、情节构建及氛围营造三方面对其推动作用进行分析。 “Epiphany ” occupy an important position in Joyce’s early novel creation. In the short story “The Dead,” Gabriel experienced a series of psychological crises after Suddenly realized his own living situation and gained a great insight into secular life. Many of the elements in the novel have played different roles in promoting Gabriel’s final epiphany. This article tries to analyze the role of characters in terms of character traits, plot construction and atmosphere creation.
