中国书法具有悠久的历史,随着中华文明的发展而发展。它除了文字功能外还是我国一种独特艺术创作形式,对我们的平面设计也具有很深的意义。虽然中国书法与现代设计分属于两个不同的艺术范畴,但研究、了解中国书法,有益于我们创造出真正中国文化的设计。将它融入那些需要展示我国民族文化特色的平面招贴设计中,将会使设计更加具有独特的中华民族风格和时代特色。靳埭强先生的平面招贴设计中就充分地将书法与设计相结合,利用书法的形、意来加强主题的表现。很好的将中国文化与现代设计相结合,也使人们对于现代设计有了更深刻的理解。
