Extrapolation of mammalian somatic chromosome damage rules to germ cell chromosomal damage is an important issue in the study of the evaluation of human genetic hazards caused by ionizing radiation. In this review, based on the introduction of radiation-induced chromosome aberrations in germ cells of mammals, we focus on the comparison of the regularity of chromosome aberrations between germ cells and somatic cells induced by irradiation. The dose-effect relationship of radiation-induced chromosomal translocation of spermatogonia was more clear and peak-shaped. The peak of effect curve was different in different species of animals, with 2 Gy for humans and 2 to 3 Gy for rhesus monkeys and 6 Gy for mice,
