The tympanic membrane in the middle ear injection of 4% lidocaine can improve tinnitus and vertigo, but the exact mechanism of action is not yet clear. Sakata et al. (1984) speculated that lidocaine could block the vicious circle of abnormal excitability of hair cells in the inner ear. The purpose of this study is to observe the morphological changes of the inner ear after middle lid injection of lidocaine by scanning electron microscopy to explore its mechanism of treating tinnitus and dizziness. Experimental animals using pigeons and guinea pigs. 4% and 10% lidocaine 0.1m was injected into the middle ear cavity through the tympanic membrane. The pigeon vestibular organs and guinea pig cochlea were observed after 1 ~ 4 days.
