近些年,山区的野生可食植物(如野生刺嫩芽、薇菜等品种)因市场价格持续上扬,山民以折枝、挖地等掠夺方式采收,致使森林资源濒于灭绝,生态环境遭到破坏。而有些市场价格低的可食植物,却更多地被弃于山野,资源浪费严重。因此发展森林有机食品产业,应当依据循环保护和开发并重的原则,同时应防止加工污染。
