美国社会学家艾瑞克·莱特对马克思主义经济危机理论进行全面的梳理,在对已经存在的几种危机理论深入研究的基础上,试图把各种危机理论整合在一个基本的逻辑和时间的框架之中,把不同类型的经济危机理论类型适用于解释资本主义发展不同阶段的经济危机。通过这种方法,莱特把马克思主义经济危机理论同资本主义发展的不同阶段有机结合起来,并以一种综合性的方法实现对经济危机理论的总解释。这种方法虽然存在一定的缺陷,但对分析资本主义发展具有一定的借鉴意义。
