一九三九年十一月二十三日早上,位于上海西区法租界内的善钟路(今常熟路)上,行人稀疏,车马零落。冬日,为孤岛租界蒙上了凛冽萧条的不祥之兆。上午八时许,从临街的一号门内走出一位文职人员装束的中年人。他的身后跟着一辆自备包车。就在中年人步上街沿,欲往包车上跨的时候,突然,身后响起一串撼人心魄的枪声:“砰——砰、砰”。中年人顿时脚下踉跄,扑倒在包车上,后腰处渗出殷红的鲜血。他挣扎着用双手支撑住身体,转过脸来,“砰、砰、砰”,又是一串枪弹迎面飞来。
