美国三 M 公司新近开发出超轻混凝土,其密度比传统混凝土低67%,因此,可以浮在水面上。该公司用轻质陶瓷球代替传统的集料制出了这种混凝土,另外,这种新型混凝土的导热系数只是普通混凝土的1/10。其集料量通常占整个混凝土体积的70~75%。此外,这种新材料的吸音性能和透水性低。这种材料将用来制作轻质中空砌块。(孟庆林译自美国《设计新闻》1990年第2期)
U.S. Three M Company has recently developed ultra-light concrete, which is 67% lower in density than conventional concrete and therefore can float on water. The company used lightweight ceramic balls instead of traditional aggregates to make such concrete. In addition, the thermal conductivity of this new type of concrete is only 1/10 that of ordinary concrete. Its aggregate amount usually accounts for 70 to 75% of the entire concrete volume. In addition, this new material has low sound absorption and water permeability. This material will be used to make lightweight hollow blocks.
