用常规的回交转育法选育出玉米雄性不育系Ｃ天４ｍｓ。经田间鉴定其雄穗花药不外露，花粉败育彻底，不育性稳定。用Ｃ天４ｍｓ配制的户单４号杂种一代表现为雄性不育。其主要农艺性状与正常可育的户单４号基本相似，子粒产量比正常可育的户单４号增产６．９％。可以用掺合法在生产上利用Ｃ天４ｍｓ配制的户单４号杂交种。
