This article presents a piezo-accelerometer that can simultaneously measure the acceleration and velocity of materials subject to very rapid pulse loading. The acceleration signal is obtained by measuring the rate of change of the short-circuit current of the piezoelectric sheet, which is in contact with the accelerated surface.
