At the beginning of 20th century, the rise of research on legendary Tang Dynasty became an opportunity for scholars to pay attention to it. Afterwards, the academic circles in both sides of the Taiwan Strait carried forward their studies and conducted research. In the late 1950s, Mr. Cheng Qianfan completed the manuscripts entitled “Tang Dynasty Jinshi Juan Volume and Literature” and did not publish it until the 1980s. In the case of mutual ignorance, Taiwan scholars through the accumulation and promotion, but also put forward in the 80’s “line volume and the literature of the Tang Dynasty ” this subject. From the perspective of academic history, Cheng’s research is more pioneering and influential. After several generations of scholars’ unremitting efforts, the concepts of the line of work, the timing and causes of the emergence and disappearance of the line of work, and the concrete connotation of the line style gradually became clear. While continuing to argue about the relationship between the line volumes and the Tang Legend, people also realized the influence of the line volumes on the Tang poetry, the ancient writings and the style of writing. This topic still has the following space for further development: First, think deeply about the impact of the scrolls on the classical prose movement, especially the negative influences; second, sort out the formation process of the semantic meaning of the scrolls and its meaning in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties Evolvement and reason; thirdly, to explore the cultural meaning and literary meaning of the phenomenon of “prestige”. In addition, further research on the collection, collation and comparison of scholars at home and abroad will help us consider the development direction of this issue.
