知识分子是指文化程度比同时代社会劳动者一般水平超出许多的,主要以创造、传播、应用、管理科学文化知识为谋生手段的脑力劳动者。目前在我国知识分子泛指:具有中专毕业以上学历(包括同等学历)的脑力劳动者;具有专业技术职称(职务)的人员;按国家教委规定,学历合格或虽无合格学历但经考试考核合格的中小学教师。青年知识分子则是指这几部分人中年龄在35岁以下者。厦门地区现有知识分子总数为40000多人,其中年龄在35岁以下的青年知识分子有近19000人,占总数的45％。他们作为相对独立的社会群体,正以崭新的风姿在特区舞台上迅速崛起,并日益成为一股不容忽视的社会力量。这支队伍是特区的宝贵财富,是特区未来建设的中坚。为了更客观全面地认识他们,充分发挥他们的积极作用,前不久,团市委对我市青年知识分子进行了一次抽样调查,并在调查分析的基础上,提出了一些相应的对策,以期对我市青年知识分子队伍的建设有所裨益。
