古代山东沿海居民远涉重洋,北达辽东,南下江淮,东抵朝日,开辟出了山东的海上通道。很可能早在春秋战国时期就已开辟了山东沿海北岸与辽东半岛的海上航线。汉代的山东与辽东已经明确有通航往来。此后,海路往来一直是鲁辽两地居民交流的通道。金朝为远征南宋开通了山东到天津的航线。山东沿海通往江苏、浙江、福建、广东的海上航线,史称南路航线,很早也已开辟。西晋以后,山东航海者大批南下江浙。北宋时期,山东登州港开出驶向广东潮州的直达海船。明清时期因海禁,山东出海航道多受阻。朝日与山东半岛很早就有海上往来。汉代以后,史籍中有山东沿海航行至朝鲜半岛的记录。唐代山东开辟出由半岛东端越海直达朝鲜半岛的最近航线。宋代山东驶往朝鲜和日本的船只都采用跨海直航的方式。明清时期,山东与朝日的海上航线因受海禁政策的影响,往来一度大为减少。早期的山东沿海居民大多沿着海岸线南北航行,通过简单的交易各自换取所需的生活物资。 The inhabitants of the ancient coastal areas in Shandong far involved the oceans, reached the east in the north, crossed the Jianghuai in the south and arrived in the north toward the east, opening up the sea passage in Shandong.
