The Light of August is one of Faulkner’s most famous and controversial novels. The work shows many problems such as racial discrimination, religious paranoid and historical and family burdens in the southern American society, reflecting the author’s thinking and concern about the existence of the South and even the entire human race. Based on the main theories of Sartre existentialist philosophy, this article explores the tendencies and significance of existentialism embodied in his works.
