In recent years, domestic scholar Wang Chu-ming proposed to promote language learning through follow-up writing on the basis of synergetic theory. Relevant empirical studies also show that there are several benefits to the continued writing of articles based on reading English, including improving learners’ language accuracy. Specifically, some mistakes made in the follow-up writing of reading English were significantly lower than those in the follow-up reading of Chinese. Our research focuses on the impact of follow-up on the use of past tense and on the latency effects of such effects. The results show that reading English can help students significantly improve the accuracy of past use, low-level students in the continuous reading performance even better than those who read the high-level students; In addition, our study also found that this Positive impact has a certain delay. Further investigating some of the participants’ use of the past tense, we found that the mistakes of reading the past tense in the follow-up writing were mainly reflected in the irregular verbs, and the past tense in the English stories most frequently read by the participants was an irregular verb.
