本文从意大利后现代主义作家伊塔罗·卡尔维诺的小说《看不见的城市》入手，通过分析出现在其中的古都北京和后现代化城市洛杉矶，转入全球化的论题，旨在强调，全球化不仅发生在经济和政治层面上，也引发了文化全球化，进而，阐发了“批评理论”的发起及赛义德的“旅行的理论”之内涵。最后，从一体化网络、文化网络、技术网络和和环境网络四个方面，说明了加州大学厄湾分校批评理论研究所长达四年的研究课题“全球化的力量”及其影响。
Starting with the novel “Invisible City” by Italian postmodern writer Itauro Calvino, this essay aims to emphasize the importance of globalization by analyzing the emerging Beijing and the postmodern city of Los Angeles, It not only takes place at the economic and political levels, but also leads to cultural globalization. In turn, it expounds the origin of Critical Theory and Saeed’s theory of travel. Finally, from the four aspects of integrated network, cultural network, technological network and environmental network, this paper illustrates the four-year research project “The Power of Globalization” and its influence in the Critical Theory Research Institute of University of California, Irvine.
