China’s independent film exhibition in the international arena has given the world a different look at China and made China and the rest of the world more diverse. However, compared to male directors, female directors have very low visibility, and their works can be described as “edge of the edge ”. Although the popularization of DV and the further opening of culture make women participate more conveniently and smoothly in the filming of the film, their works still do not get enough attention and sufficient research. Compared with the documentary, the study of feature films by domestic and foreign scholars is more scarce. This article focuses on the award-winning feature film “The Egg and the Stone” by female director Huang Ji (2012), analyzing the narrative features of her films and emphasizing the unique aesthetic style that their gender perspective brings.
