Japan’s nine power companies, state-run railways, and heavy-duty motor plants form the Japan Electric Power Survey Commission, and recently it has compiled a report on the electricity demand intelligence report for the next 10 years. According to this report, the total electricity demand from Japan to FY95 is 769.8 billion kWh, which represents an increase of 28.9% from the actual electricity consumption measured in FY85. Based on the actual value of 84 years, the average annual growth rate from 1995 to 2.6%, which is lower than the average annual increase rate (3.4%) in the previous 10 years (76-85 years). This is mainly because the electricity industry has stagnated.
