Cross-sectional MRI studies have shown that the degree of caudate nucleus atrophy is related to the severity of Huntington’s disease (HD), and it is speculated that the duration of HD may reflect the extent of basal ganglion contractions. However, there is no direct evidence of this neuropathological progression.
