细钢丝制作的轴向承载的拉簧,一般在对弯曲率的要求较低和载荷较轻时选用。如果这种拉簧承受径向载荷而不是轴向载荷,弹簧的长度和安装占据空间都可大大缩小。遗憾地是,一般标准手册都没有提供径向载荷下变形的计算公式。弹簧端圈底部的变形y_t通常是最为重要的。径向变形y_t也是根据弹簧每一圈的轴向变形δ计算出来的。作用于每一圈上的拉力P可由下式求出:
