文学史分期应以文学自身的演化状况为依据 ,不必与历史分期强求一致。 2 0世纪中国文学虽有曲折 ,“现代性”(“人的觉醒”、“文的觉醒”)仍是其根本标志。“五四”新文学的主流肯定文学的“独立价值” ,本着作家“内心要求”行事 ,并不接受“工具”论。这种观念也影响到后来的许多作家。 90年代文学大体上仍在“五四”设下的轨道上运行
The staging of literary history should be based on the evolution of literature itself, without having to be consistent with the historical staging. Despite the twists and turns in Chinese literature in the 20th century, “modernity” (“awakening of the human being” and “awakening of the writing”) remains its fundamental symbol. The mainstream of “May 4th” new literature affirmed the “independent value” of literature and acted in accordance with the author’s “inner requirement”, and did not accept the “tool” theory. This concept also affects many later writers. The literature of the 1990s still largely runs on the track set by the May 4th Movement
