National Bureau of Statistics, Labor and Statistics Division production and operation of an official told reporters that it is estimated that in 2004 the annual output of chemical raw materials in China will exceed 1 million tons mark. This exciting figure indicates that our country will soon catch up with the United States from the second position and become the leader of the global chemical raw material production. A monthly report by the Economic Development Bureau of the National Development and Reform Commission and a monitoring report for the work-exchange industry shows that in the first three quarters of 2004, the pharmaceutical industry realized a total current industrial output value of 227.5 billion yuan in 12 industrial sectors across the country.
