Objective To study the expression of NF-κB and VEGF in splenic vein of patients with portal cavernous degeneration and explore the mechanism of cavernous degeneration splenomegaly. Methods Spleen paraffin sections of 7 patients with portal degeneration of spongiform encephalopathy were selected as the experimental group and 8 spleen paraplegia of the spleen of the accident-induced car accident as the control group. The expressions of NF-κB and VEGF were detected by immunohistochemistry. The difference was statistically significant. Results The expression of NF-κB and VEGF in the experimental group was more than that in the control group. The expression of NF-κB and VEGF in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusions The cavernous degeneration of portal vein and splenomegaly may be related to NF-κB and VEGF.
