A numerical model for an unsaturated soil water flow equation is established with a mixed fimte element method. This model can be applied to simulating soil moisture content and flux in the proceeses of infiltration, evaporation, evapotranspiration, redistribution and their alternate appearing in an unsaturated zone. It can also be ap plied to a high-resolution land surface model.
