The 3rd Conference on the 3G Mobile Communications TechnologyConvergence organized by Siemens company and attended by keymembers of the 3GPP(Third Generation Partnership Project) took placein Beijing recently. The Organizers and participants unanimously agreedupon the proposal of supporting the new 3G Mobile Communicationstandard solution---TD--SCDMA proposed by the Academy ofTelecommunication Science & Technology Research of the MII. Thedraft standard will be handed over to the 3GPP plenary meeting forfurther discussion and approval. 3GPP is a cooperative Project supportedby key communication standard organizations in Europe, USA, Japanand Korea, with the aim to generate an international standard to facilitatemigration of GSM and wireless access technology to the future 3Genvironments. TD--SCDMA claims to have a lot of new functionalityand advanced performances.
