The “clash of civilizations” published by American scholar Samuel Huntington in 1993 has caused an uproar in the international academic community and various criticisms have followed. After a lapse of 11 years, in 2004 Huntington published “Who are we?” He shifted the perspective of “clash of civilizations” from the international community to the United States and discussed various challenges encountered in the “U.S. national character.” Through the reading of this book, we can find that there are many critiques of Huntington’s “clash of civilizations” theory over the past decade or so. This article attempts to stand on the perspective of maintaining the national identity of a country and re-evaluate Huntington’s theory of “clash of civilizations.”
