为满足新一代动车用牵引电动机减少维修、延长拆检里程、降低噪声、提高效率的要求,日本开发出了新式全封闭型牵引电动机,它可以防止外部尘埃的侵入,从而延长其维修期,并将机内噪声遮断于机壳内以降低走行噪声,利用动车的走行风使冷却装置设计得更合理,同时新型牵引电动机还采用了机壳内空气循环冷却方式、油润滑式轴承、耐高温磁化楔铁等新技术。
