质量文化的概念兴起于美国研究日本产品质量迅速提高“秘诀”的过程中。上世纪80年代初,美国在产品质量和过程质量方面的领导地位受到了日本竞争对手的严重挑战,越来越不利的市场竞争形势促使美国企业界对质量实践活动进行深刻反思。以哈佛大学教授特雷斯?迪尔和麦肯锡咨询公司顾问阿伦肯尼迪为代表的美国专家学者在研究日本企业成功要素后首次提出了企业文化的概念,并用丰富的例证说明:杰出而成功的企业都有强有力的企业文化。质量文化开始走上了企业质量管理的历史舞台。
The concept of quality culture emerged in the process of the United States studying Japan’s rapid increase in product quality and “secrets.” In the early 1980s, the United States’ leading position in product quality and process quality was seriously challenged by Japanese competitors. The increasingly unfavorable market competition prompted the American business community to conduct a profound reflection on quality practice activities. American experts and scholars represented by Tres Deere, a professor at Harvard University and Alan Kennedy, a consultant at McKinsey & Company, first proposed the concept of corporate culture after studying the key elements of the success of Japanese companies and illustrated with abundant examples: Outstanding and Successful Enterprises Have a strong corporate culture. Quality culture has embarked on the history of enterprise quality management stage.
