随着市场经济的发展,新闻界的竞争加剧。地市党报既要面对中央和省级报纸的竞争,也面临各种文化、娱乐、经济、科技等专业报纸的挑战,更受到电台、电视台的冲击。如果地市党报仍然墨守成规,以老面孔出现,不能从过去那种依靠政府花钱办报、依赖行政命令订报的模式中解脱出来,更新观念,深化新闻改革和内部机制改革,确立竞争意识,就难以发展壮大,更好地发挥舆论导向作用。为了尽快地适应社会主义市场经济发展的需要,更好地服务于经济建设这一中心,大力改进经济报道,应是新闻改革的突破口。要在坚持经济报道思想性指导性的同时,增强经济报道的信息性、社会性、服务性和可读性,使经济报道日益为读者喜闻乐见。
