On July 21, 1925, Ernst Hemingway, a youth who had spent his days in Paris on his twenty-sixth birthday, began writing his first novel, The Sun Also Rises. Eight weeks later, the novel was completed and the sequence began to fall. Hadley, his eight-year-old wife, went to Austria for winter and Hemingway stayed in Paris to revise and amend the manuscript. In January 1927, Pauline Fayf, a woman editor of the four-year-old fashion magazines of the sea Mingway, became Hadley’s friend and joined them as her husband’s holiday. Studied journalism at the University of Missouri, worked for Vogue magazine in Cleveland, New York and Paris, and Pauline learned about the United States
