A.S.拜厄特的代表作《占有》通过呈现和对比两种阅读/认知模式——理性化的权威认知和感性化的个体认知,表达了作者对当代西方文学批评范式的反思和批判。前者强调遵循既定的研究模式,追随者或深陷后结构主义理论泥潭,或囿于前人的理念与方法,产生了不同程度的文本误读和自我异化。后者以认知主体的肉身性为原点,调动理性思维之外的知觉、情感和本能的认知潜力,在“还物为物的经验”过程中唤醒“身体主体”的认知使命与存在意义。拜厄特对第二种认知模式的青睐呼应了梅洛-庞蒂等人的现象学观点,反映了她借用1950年代欧陆哲思反拨当代文学研究中权威主义与“过度阐释”的努力。
A.S. Byatt’s masterpiece Possession expresses the author’s reflection and critique of the contemporary Western literary criticism paradigm by presenting and contrasting two cognitive modes of reading / cognitive-rational cognition and perceptual individual cognition.
