定向能武器是利用沿一定方向发射与传播的高能射束攻击目标的一种新原理武器,也称射束武器或能束武器。正在研制中的定向能武器有激光武器、高功率微波武器、粒子束武器等。定向能武器具有与现有兵器不同的特点:①激光束、微波波束或粒子束以光速或接近光速的速度直接射向目标,瞄准即能命中,使敌无法躲避;②控制射束,可快速改变攻击方向,反应灵活:③能量高度集中,一般只对目标本身甚至其中的某一部位造成破坏,而不像核武器或化学、生物武器那样,造成大范围破坏或杀伤。定向能武器既可用于进攻,如电子战;也可用于防御,如拦截来犯的飞机和导弹等。
