１９１９年发生的那场轰轰烈烈的反帝反封建的五四运动，开创了中国民主革命的新纪元，也开辟了妇女解放运动的新时代。广州作为受五四运动深刻影响的南方文化中心城市，在妇女解放思想的传播方面有着突出的贡献。五四时期妇女解放思想在广州传播主要是通过一些进步刊物，内容非常丰富，包括：反对封建伦理的“三从四德”，提倡男女平等的新道德；重视女子教育，提倡男女同校等。这些内容虽然有一定的局限性，但还是对广大妇女走上解放之路作出了充分的理论和思想准备。
The vigorous anti-imperialist and anti-feudal May Fourth Movement that took place in 1919 created a new era of the Chinese democratic revolution and opened up a new era of women’s liberation movement. As a city of southern culture deeply influenced by the May Fourth Movement, Guangzhou has made outstanding contributions in the dissemination of women’s emancipation thoughts. The emancipation of women in the May 4th Movement in Guangzhou mainly through some progress publications, which are very rich in content, including the “three from four virtues” against feudal ethics, the new morality of equality between men and women, the emphasis on women’s education and the promotion of co-education among men and women. Although these contents have certain limitations, they still provide sufficient theoretical and ideological preparations for the majority of women to embark on the path of liberation.
