谭恩美笔下的母女关系,中国移民母亲与美国化了的女儿之间的误解、冲突到沟通理解,到最后的认同融合,这是母亲用充满爱意的故事言说,使女儿吸取到一些中国文化的精髓,这也象征了中美两种文化之间的差异、矛盾和冲突到沟通、理解及其融合。人团圆结局不仅象征着两代人之阃的隔阂消除,也隐含了两种文化间的冲突得到缓解、促进文化间交流与理解的美好愿望。总结了母女关系描写的社会文化意义。笔者认为,《喜福会》通过对华裔社会中母女关系描写,一方面展现了华裔的生活状况,言说了母女情深的故事。另一方面说明了华裔本身在美国社会中不断调整自己的文化身份,不断发展以寻求和谐的存在。
