The microstructures of several artificial carbons which were heat-treated at different temperatures were studied by high-resolution electron microscope. When the graphitized carbon is heated to different temperatures, its microstructure is also different. At the very beginning of the crystallization, it consisted of a small, disorganized layer of carbon atoms, and upon heating to about 1000 ° C, the formation of the vortex layer started to develop. At about 1600 ° C, all the carbon atoms turned into vortex layers, At temperature, the carbon atoms begin to pile up in a graphite configuration. The experimental results also show that the layer spacing of carbon atoms decreases with increasing temperature, and finally approaches the (0002) plane spacing of graphite.
