美军2011年8月宣布,将斥资近9亿美元打造新一代步兵战车。根据设想,新一代战车将可搭载9名步兵,有望于2018年投入使用,以取代现有的“斯特赖克”和“布雷德利”型战车。这款名为GCV的步兵战车,由于安装了非常厚实的装甲,使该车的全重达63.5吨,而美军主战坦克M1A1的战斗全重也不超过58吨,美军广泛装备的M2步兵战车的全重也只有22.67吨。
The U.S. military announced in August 2011 that it will spend nearly 900 million U.S. dollars to build a new generation of infantry fighting vehicles. It is envisaged that the new generation of chariots will be capable of carrying 9 infantry and is expected to be operational by 2018 to replace existing Stryker and Bradley chariots. The infantry combat vehicle, known as the GCV, had a heavy weight of 63.5 tons thanks to its heavy armor, while the U.S. main battle tank M1A1 did not even weigh more than 58 tons.
