恶性肿瘤晚期可广泛转移至机体几乎所有器官,但骨骼肌转移瘤占所有恶性肿瘤血源性转移的1%以下,多数尸解报道亦提示骨骼肌内很少发现转移瘤生长,既使见到转移瘤亦为数稀少。上述现象与骨骼肌占机体比重大、其血流丰富相矛盾,提示骨骼肌对肿瘤转移极具抵御性。目前关于骨骼肌转移瘤罕见性的机理研究尚很肤浅,骨骼肌收缩的机械性因素及骨骼肌细胞分泌的抑瘤因子可起一定作用,但这些研究尚待深入。
