PP87式82毫米追击炮由我国自行设计、制造,该炮及弹药、引信和发射药装药均采用了先进材料和工艺制造,其主要战术技术指标达到了国际先进水平。该炮的发射速度达20～30发/分,远程装药时的最大射程为5700米,这两个指标与具有世界领先水平的奥地利M82/224式82毫米追击炮(详见本刊1994年第5期)相当。其最大射程已远远超过了我国过去的1967年式82毫米迫击炮(3040米)和1983年式Ⅰ、Ⅱ型82毫米迫击炮(2700米)。
