笔者在王国维、杨向奎诸史学大师华夏族起源于东方说的指引下,多年来,在深入研究古史,学习马克思主义民族学理论,熟悉新中国考古学成果后,重新构建了东方史前夷夏族人文与地理框架系统。在人文方面,根据马克思、恩格斯“氏族起源于共同的祖先”及“血缘亲属关系是联盟的真实基础”的理论,肯定了被长期否定的尧舜禹源自黄帝的古史系统,并根据考古学东方在全国处于领先地位的结论,认为华夏族是一个长期生活于东方的、以炎黄为首而不断发展壮大的血族集团。它们与诸夷的关系是夏出于夷、夷夏一家,但夏又是诸夷的领导和统治民族。在地理方面,认为《禹贡》是商周时代的地理形势,完全不适用于东方,只有《淮南子》九州、《史记》四渎、山东四岳才是虞夏时的疆域。此两大系统互相依存,互为作用。时代大体在距今5000~4000年间。后华夏精英西迁,中国的华夏政治中心始由东方转移到中原地区。
