Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) have become valuable noninvasive methods of detecting cerebrovascular abnormalities and are beginning to be used as an alternative to interventional X-ray angiography (XRA). The authors compared the results of XRA, Doppler echocardiography, and extracranial carotid artery volume flow ratio (PCVFR) measured by MRA in patients with carotid artery occlusive disease.
