BACKGROUND: The severity of respiratory disturbance in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) hypoventilation is related to sleep position. According to the apnea hypopnea index (AHI), patients with OSA were divided into two types: in-position and non-in-position. : To compare the clinical features of patients with and without OSA and to explore the relationship between sleep position and respiratory function in patients with OSA.Design: A comparative study of patients with OSA.Objective: To investigate the relationship between sleep position and respiratory function in patients with OSA.Methods: PARTICIPANTS: A total of 225 patients with concurrent overnight night-time polysomnography were enrolled in the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region from October 1998 to May 2002. Inclusion criteria: ①AHI≥10 times / h, ② Supine and lateral position sleep time ≥ 30min were, ③ age ≥ 20 years were excluded criteria: ① age <20 years old, ② suffering from major physical diseases, of which 63 were in position type, 162 were non-position type Methods: All patients underwent overnight polysomnography, with detailed medical history and physical examination, and the determination of respiratory function by volume plethysmography.Comparison of body position and non-body position Two groups of patients with general clinical features, pulmonary function parameters and polysomnography data.Using multivariate stepwise regression analysis to determine the patient’s position type or non-position type factors.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The main outcome: the clinical data of two groups of patients, Polysomnography and pulmonary function.Second outcome: The OSA type and clinical data of each item correlation.Results: 225 cases of OSA patients in a total of 63 cases of patients with 28%, body position group and non-body ) Body mass index in the two groups were (27.97 ± 3.21), (26.2
