海南岛发展天然橡胶生产已有百年历史。早在1906年海南岛华侨何麟书就从马来西亚引种巴西三叶橡胶树,在当时的乐会县(今琼海市)建立琼安胶园(在今国营东太农场),1907年又有华侨区慕颐引种在那大(今儋州市)建立侨兴胶园。到1952年全岛已有建国前老橡胶园2343个,共106.65万株,分布在乐会、定安、万宁等7个县,年产干胶达3吨。1950年,海南岛解放后新建立的人民政府——海南军政委员会下设橡胶
Hainan Island development of natural rubber production has a hundred years of history.
