It is a basic courtesy to listen closely to each other when talking. Most women, however, do not really “listen” when chatting about “gossip” or eavesdropping on others. In a survey, the overwhelming majority of women admitted that they focused on listening to each other only when chatting with friends, but were especially devoted to eavesdropping on quarrels in the neighborhood.
