A paper entitled “Construction and Operation of the Japanese Steel Pipe Company,” which is published by the Steel Engineer in the United States in June, is summarized as follows: The Fan Island Plant is a steel plant built on the artificial island of Tokyo Bay. The second and second phases of construction will be completed. The first phase of the project has been completed and the second phase is expected to be completed in June 1979 with an annual output of 6 million tonnes of crude steel. In addition to land reclamation, the total investment is estimated at 3.55 billion U.S. dollars, of which 20% is for environmental protection. The investment equivalent to producing steel capacity per tonne is US $ 59 (based on two hundred and sixty Yen equals one dollar.)
