Pater Singer is a representative of contemporary neo-utilitarian ethics. His “Practical Ethics” is a work carried by the field of applied ethics. It has been translated into many languages and widely influenced. This essay is a critical reading of Chapter XII of the book, “Why Ethical Affairs?”, Mainly focusing on the incompleteness of ethical interpretation of his utilitarian position and suggesting another possibility of a more complete understanding of ethics . ① understanding of the problem “Why act morally?” This question asks why:
