Human neuropeptide Y (NPY), as a neurotrophic regulator of adipogenesis and a newly discovered biological effector of peripheral fat proliferation and differentiation-related cells, especially peripheral adipocytes, is characterized by its specific binding to different receptors in its receptor family Sexually binding and participating in or exerting on the body a series of physiological functions of regulation and influence, especially with the occurrence of obesity, development and change are closely related. Moreover, the effects of NPY on body fat and metabolism can further lead to a series of age-related diseases, especially obesity metabolic syndrome (such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, senile Dementia and some malignant tumors, etc.) to accelerate the emergence of sustained development and increasing. Therefore, it is very important to study the role of NPY and its receptor in the process of obesity and its mediation and its related mechanisms, and it is also the focus and hotspot of geriatric biology and geriatrics in the future. This review summarizes the research progress of NPY and its receptor for adipose tissue generation from the aspects of cell physiology, which lays the foundation for the future basic research, clinical application and related theories of the elderly-related diseases.
